The biggest dance music festival in Wales is back with an insane line-up of big names and indie DJs. In 2015 X Music Festival brought Skepta, DJ Fresh and Annie Mac to Cardiff. The festival returns to Bute Park this year for another round of noise, kicking off on Friday 3rd June with Craig David’s TS5, 99 Souls, Barely Legal, Big Narstie and more. Saturday 4th keeps the party going with artists like Stormzy, Hannah Wants, Snakeships, and a returning Annie Mac. Weekend tickets start from £59.00 with VIP tickets just a fraction more at £69.00. If you haven’t bought your ticket already, then you’d best hurry. Early birds are sold out, as are standard tickets. There are a number of final release tickets still available however, so if you hurry, you might make it.
In its second year, X Music Festival is hosting local talent like Puurmotions DJs, who will be playing near international stars like MK. This is one of the freshest events of the summer, which makes the venue of Bute Park absolutely perfect. It’s set within the former grounds of Cardiff Castle where old and new merge in an immense experience. Cross through medieval walls towards 4 different stages and pavilions, blazing strobe lights, fairground rides and quality music.
Cardiff has been named the second most musical city in the UK. It’s mostly renowned for its rock scene, giving rise to the fantastic Manic Street Preachers, Bullet for My Valentine, Stereophonics and more. But X Music is doing the job of keeping the dance genre very much alive in South Wales. A sell-out weekend in its second year is a good indication of what to expect in the future from this eclectic event.
